McIntire Studios offers voice, piano, and composition lessons to students of all ages and abilities. See below for information about each program

Voice Majors

Voice students of all abilities and experience, beginners through professionals, are accepted as voice majors at McIntire Studios. Always guided by the student, we study vocal technique (breath control, posture, etc.), ear training, music reading and theory, proper diction and how to use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and interpretative skills.

Basic Voice Lessons

Basic Adult Voice Lessons are typically 60 minutes per week. This is the basic package, including lessons only. Studio class and Aural skills/Ear Training classes are available on a drop-in pay as you go basis.

Basic Child lessons

Basic Child Lessons are typically 30 or 45 minutes once per week. This is the basic child package, including weekly one-on-one lessons and the monthly studio class. Aural skills are already a heavy part of the child lesson curriculum.

High School students

The High School Voice Major package includes weekly one-on-one lessons, the weekly aural skills/ear training class and the monthly studio class. This is the most comprehensive package and is designed with the competitive high school singer in mind.

Recitals

Required studio recitals are regularly held in December and in May. The cost varies depending on the cost of the venue, and it is split evenly across the studio membership. Additionally, solo or joint recitals may be offered throughout the year as suggested. High school seniors have the option of offering a senior recital; these typically occur in late May or very early June.

Additional programs

Additionally available on a drop in basis include: monthly studio class, weekly ear-training/aural skills lessons.

Piano Majors

Levels and Ages

Beginners of all ages are welcome into the piano studio. The Piano Program at McIntire Studios is designed for beginning through advanced-intermediate students of all ages who wish to make music a part of their life. We accept adults, transfer students, and children as young as four. This program is paced to suit the needs of the individual student. Daily practice leads to lasting accomplishment.

The length of weekly piano lessons are based upon the attention span and musical experience of each given student. Typically, very young students (ages 4 - 6) have 20 minute weekly lessons, beginners of all other ages are typically 30 - 45 minutes, more advanced students usually run 45 - 60 minutes.

Students are to have either a piano or a full-sized keyboard at home. This is essential for actual success.

Double Majors

Often a recommendation for middle school singers is combining voice and piano lessons for awhile to build up basic musicianship. It is also possible to combine either piano or voice lessons with composition lessons, depending on availability.

Options include combining voice, piano, and composition with additional musicianship, music business, aural skills, or music appreciation. Inquire for details.
